Finally some evidence that I get something done up here in Lofoten. This is a picture I took at Unstad in late september `09, used in this winter`s Norrøna retailers-guide. The designers made the picture a bit brighter then I had hoped for, but it still makes sense. As you can see, we had all types of weather that day. The picture is taken with my Hasselblad Super Wide C from 1966. Photo: LK

If it’s good enough for astronauts, it’s good enough for you: someone on metafilter found NASA/Hasselblad’s photography guide for astronauts, which doubles as an instruction manual for the space Hasselblad. It’s actually a not half bad introduction to the basics of photography, including exposure, focus, depth of field, the effects of different focal lengths, and composition. Guys who had no training in photography beyond this little booklet took some of the most striking and recognizable photos ever. Of course, it’s easier to make great photos when you have a camera angle that only a dozen people have ever had access to.

Los Angeles, 1998: I was in L.A., and the Beastie Boys were playing there, and I called to ask if I could go to the show. And their manager said, “Yeah — as a matter of fact, could you spend a little time with them before the show and maybe shoot some pictures?” And I shoot with a lot of different cameras, so I have a whole pile of cameras sitting behind me. So [Adam] Yauch said, “Lemme see that Hasselblad.” I thought he was just gonna check it out, and he turned it on me. I should run the one he took of me and this one.
